Inktober 2016 – 9

I was recently informed by fellow cartoonist Matt Young that Inktober has an OFFICIAL website! What’s more, each day of the month is supposed to have a prompt or theme!

So, beginning today, to further challenge myself with these, I’ll be following the official themes!

Today’s theme: Broken.

Today we see a young Edea Lea from Bravely Default concluding another tough training session with her Master, Kamiizumi, holder of the Swordmasters Asterisk!

I wanted to do much more with this piece in regards to a background, but I like the way the main illustration turned out so much, I left it blank so that I could perhaps explore coloring this later on! Stay tuned!

Inktober 2016 – 8

Reaper! *runs away futility*

I recently beat Mass Effect 3 for the first time and was very excited to get a chance to ink-sketch a Reaper for Inktober! I may go back and do other characters from the series as I continue this month! I was going for a “from the dark to the light” sort of high-contrast drawing here. I hope it’s as successful to you as I think it is!

I’ve decided to put any of this month’s drawings up for sale, generally just $5 for the smaller sketch card drawings and $25 for the much larger ones I do. (This Reaper is one of the large ones!)

You can just drop a comment here if interested or click that Donate button on the side of the site and let me know in your paypal description which of the Inktober days drawings you’d like!

Inktober 2016 – 7

I attended a First Friday presentation by my former teacher and advisor Stephen Bissette tonight where he presented some absolutely amazing comic art pages from his private collection! It was full of monsters and dinosaurs and other awesomeness, and definitely inspired tonight’s inktober drawing: A weird bird monster…thingy!

Be sure to come to my Twitch stream tomorrow and Sunday for extended inking casts!

Inktober 2016: 4

For day 4 of Inktober, I wanted to produce a more complicated drawing than days 1-3, I also wanted to draw more from life. I chose my lovely wife as my subject matter and tried to not use any straight “comic” style lines, just hatching and bold strokes with a brush for her hair only. I’m pretty pleased with the work done in 2 hours! On to day 5!

SML Podcast is all new…kinda!

The SML Podcast (Originally the Small Medium and Large Podcast, now known as the “Someone Might Listen Podcast”) has been on the digital airwaves for a whopping nearly 200 episodes! Launched by my good MAGFest buddy JoeCam and a rotating cast of special co hosts and amazing guests, the show evolved from a fairly general pop culture discussion show to a tightly run, very focused look at video game culture, music and the world wide community of game creators! From indie studios to the big Triple A titles, Joe and crew has built a loyal fan base, and a huge list of guests, many repeat-customers for their odd but loose style of interviewing!

Recently a couple of the main hosts, specifically Pappy and Kris have decided to back off hosting duties a bit due to other life-obligations. Joe and I though it was time for a new logo to go with a fresh version of the show’s theme provided by Mega Beardo. While the old logo was very much a survivor of the “Small Medium Large” era of the podcast, the new one is much more in-line with the video gaming-centric show and the laid back interview style Joe hopes to continue to bring in the NEXT 100 episodes!

We also created variations for the YouTube Channel, Facebook page and Twitter account, so be sure to check out each of those, like/follow/subscribe as well if you’d like!

Come back this weekend for a peek at some of the development art and changes that were made to this project.
